We decided at the beginning of the new year that the old website was just not keeping up with the vision we have for PQMQ and that we needed a fresh start. I know it’s March and we’ve been out of the loop for a while but we decided to put our time to good use while we were sitting around waiting for that new CTRW album.

We’re still going to be making improvements over the next few months working out some of the kinks and adding a few surprises to the store but we feel like we are moving in a really good direction with a few projects on the horizon for this upcoming year.

Today we are finally releasing the second full length from Cut The Red Wire, but that’s just the beginning. We have a new Series of compilations called the 10 Series which will start coming out this month as well. At this point Vol. 1 is pretty much wrapped up and I must say that it is by far the strongest Comp that We have ever done. I know that’s a lot to say with so many strong collections in the past but I think you will agree once this one hits the shelves. We are also working with Jon Sonnenberg to put out a new Travelogue Ep based on field recordings and samples of fireworks, which is due out late spring/early summer.

There’s still more in the works but we’ll leave it at that for now.

I know it’s been torture to have to wait so long but it’s finally here!

Plastiq Musiq is proud to finally release the second full Length album by Cut The Red Wire, entitled Open Your Eyes. It’s All Alive and because of the delay and consequent “dropping-off-the-face-of-the-planet” nature we asked Mr. Cut The Red Wire to write a little message explaining his bad behavior. So here it is…

Ok, I know it wasn’t nice to tell everybody that I was going to finish this project in December and then not follow through but the truth is that this album was just not done. Open Your Eyes is the combined effort of four years of writing, thinking, programming, mixing, interpreting life, reworking, rewriting, and all the while constantly dreaming of the way these songs should sound, knowing how they sound in my head and them not coming out right. I wrote most of these songs while driving in my car, recording them on my cell phone voice recorder and sometimes it’s just best to leave ideas at that. They remain perfect when they are in such raw form. They don’t have to be translated into something listenable because they have already formed themselves into the perfect song. The problem comes when I decided that other people should be able to hear these songs as well. It’s impossible to perfectly recreate something that mostly sounds like hope and love but I, like an idiot tried to do it.

I’m happy with the way this album sounds right now, which is not something I have ever been able to say about any of these songs before. I still don’t think I did a good job of getting things to sound the way I wanted them to sound but I feel like this is going to be a project that I can be proud of and not hate three days after it came out like my first album.

This has not been an easy album to make. I have put a lot of desperate love into these songs. They were written for people who have lost their hope and have forgotten the beautiful world that has been made for us which we were simply placed into by an ever loving, ever forgiving creator. I tried my best to put together a set of songs that could show people what real love, compassion and grace are really all about, which is not an easy feat in the least. Not to mention the fact that I only rarely have even the slightest grip on these things in the first place. It’s a constant struggle which will never end until we leave this world and have our eyes truly opened for the first time, but we have to keep trying, we have to keep fighting for what is real and honest. It’s a lot to put into an album…It’s a lot to put into a life… I tried my best and I am calling this one finished.

God Bless you. I love you all.

-A
